WHERE ARE THE YOGA PANTS?

Yes, this is me. I know…Where are the yoga pants? The tennis skirt?

I came across this picture recently.  It was taken in China like a million years ago while I was working for an NGO in Washington DC.

I look back at my former career with fond memories…a great boss, lots of interesting travel, and tremendous development experience.  It also gave me great appreciation for corporate professionals and how challenging it can be to fit wellness into their demanding lifestyle, and this is especially true if they are also raising a family!

I remember my traveling days well…many 16 hour days going non-stop. [In fact, one year I kept my suitcase beside my bed and flew 50k miles on United].  This of course, generated lots of tension and tightness throughout my body. I often struggled to get in exercise or found it hard to eat well with lunch meetings, travel and getting home late from the office. Does this sound familiar?

I knew that I had to create a semblance of balance in my life but struggled with the how.  Thankfully, this is about the time that I discovered yoga.  I slowly carved out specific times of the week dedicated to my practice and nothing came in my way.  This time for myself was a sacred ritual.   Soon 2 days a week turned into 4 days a week and as life continued to become more and more hectic with babies, moves, etc…this time, however short, was a non-negotiable.

I work with several clients who have demanding careers and home lives.  And, I absolutely love working with them because their work ethic and ambition transfers to the fitness arena and they love to see their goals realized (as do I!). I have witnessed transformations from better and pain free movement to substantial weight loss.

I teach my clients the same strategies that I used during my NGO days to prevent burn out, pursue a healthy path and most importantly, maintain that path!  Fortunately, my training goes well beyond strength training.  I pull in my yoga teaching background of 16 years, nutrition expertise and mindset work to create a unique approach for each client.
